Jogging Strollers Are Not Just for Jogging!

My mother called me very excited one afternoon to tell me she picked up a Mongoose for me at a consignment shop. I asked if that was some kind of animal? She laughed and said it was a jogging stroller. I then asked if she knew I didn’t jog. Again, she brushed it off and said, “Wait until you try this. It’s such a smooth ride!” Knowing we only have a one-car garage that already has lawn care appliances, golf gear, bikes, and her current stroller in it, I was not thrilled to have another item to navigate around. I completely swallowed my words when she brought it to our next family barbeque. We put her in the mongoose when her “I’m-ready-for-a-nap” clock went off, and she was out in a matter of minutes. Since Abigail is still too small for her standard stroller and still uses her car seat travel system, I find the material can be a little cumbersome on a hot day and too much insulation. The great thing about the Mongoose is the material is made of a sturdy canvas. It breathes! As a 3-wheeler, it steers like a bike, in that it rolls so smoothly I think I would fall asleep in it. It is very forgiving when rolled on the grass and uneven sidewalks from overgrown tree roots. Since then, we have used the Mongoose for our evening strolls more than her regular stroller. Not only does it manage well on off-road terrain, such as a local park we cross in order to avoid a busy street, but it’s less effort to push uphill. I know they are an investment when new, but, it’s definitely worth the trade-off, not to mention very comfortable for the passenger. Another great element is that it can last through the toddler stage. There is a footrest where they can rest their legs as they start to lengthen out. It has now become our travel companion when we head to a friend’s or family member’s house for a long enough stretch that she’ll have to go down at some point. Since she has not yet mastered falling asleep comfortably on our shoulder, this jogging-stroller has become another life-saver. Thank you, mom!
